It raises the humidity in our entire home(split level)to a comfortable level where the winter skin-crawling sensation stops and the static-electricity in our hair and clothes goes away. Bemis/Essick stands behind their product better than any company I've encountered. Our motor froze-up and they replaced it at no charge even though it was out of warranty.
